Unexpected AirTag notification from found.apple.com

got something from found.apple.com re an airtag registered to me, but all my AirTags are accounted for (I have 2, and both of them are in my house)

this message just gives the serial number of the AirTag and that it's registered to my number, and gives instructions to disable it

but the disable instructions say to remove the battery from the AirTag!! I have no idea why I would get a notification regarding a tag that's supposedly registered to me, but I don't know what or where that AirTag is!

Anyone know what this is about? How do I find the serial number of the two AirTags I have, in case there's some mixup?

Is the battery empty of one of your AirTags? If that is the case, I sometimes get these notifications. If not, please check this

If you received this message and your two known AirTags are safe at home, it usually means one of three things: a third unknown AirTag is nearby (such as stuck to your car, bag, or coat), you accidentally put one of your own AirTags into Lost Mode, or someone else scanned an AirTag you previously misplaced or lost track of.

Open the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap on the Items tab at the bottom.
Select one of your registered AirTags from the list.
Tap the name of the AirTag or tap where the battery/address info is displayed to toggle and reveal the serial number and model details.
Repeat this for your second AirTag and compare the serial numbers to the one shown in the unexpected notification.
