Apple Podcasts subscription: Ads and missing content

I’m running iOS 26.5 on my phone.

in March I subscribed to a podcast via Apple Podcasts. I had been listening for a while. The podcast page updated and I can now see a banner that says “subscriber edition”.

the problem is that I still get ads on the podcast and, much worse, I’m not actually getting subscriber only content. I just heard a podcasts where the hosts were talking about a subscriber only podcast QandA earlier in the week and it simply didn’t appear on my feed and I still can’t find it.

so I know there are episodes I should be getting but am not.

the podcaster support says all subscriptions through Apple are handled by Apple and they have no access to my information (slash have no way of knowing if I even am a subscriber so SOOL). Apple has no way to troubleshoot except this forum.

does anyone know what I should do? I have already tried deleting and reinstalling the podcast app. What should I try next?

If your paid Apple Podcasts subscription fails to unlock subscriber-only content or remove ads, your account token is likely misaligned between Apple’s servers and your device. Fix this by verifying your active subscription, forcing an account re-authentication in the app, and clearing locally cached podcast data.

Verify and Refresh Your Apple Subscription

  • Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Tap your Profile Icon at the top right.
  • Tap Subscriptions and confirm the podcast subscription is active under your Apple ID.
  • If it says active, sign out of your Apple ID entirely in device Settings, restart your phone, and sign back in to force authorization tokens to refresh.
