Notifications are minimized on the bottom of the lock screen(?)

Notifications are summarized by a simple number on the bottom of the lock screen even with notifications set to "list". I cannot fathom why any human being would ever want a feature that adds and extra tap to see notifications. Why are they being hidden from me? I want to see my notifications, not sure why I ever wouldn't. That's not how phones work. How do I turn it OFF?

You can further refine how notifications are displayed on the Lock Screen:

  • If you want to the notifications to be readable without unlocking your iPhone, change Show Previews in Settings > Notifications.

  • If you don't want the notifications to be grouped, go to Settings > Notifications > [app] and change Notification Grouping to Off. You will need to do this for each app for which you do not want the notifications to be grouped.
