Can't disable passcode/Face ID unlock after admin profile

I use my passcode and also face id for several things but for my own reasons don't use them to unlock my phone. My phone has always simply unlocked without requiring them. Today, I had to set up/accept an administrator profile on my iphone for a brief amount of time (work related), and they required using the passcode to unlock. This administrator profile is gone now, but I can't find the option to return to unlocking the phone without the passcode.

To clarify: I use my passcode for several things, and I use face ID for several things. They're great, and I want to neither remove nor change them. I just don't want to use either to "wake up" and access my phone.

And how do you use your phone, if it's not in your hands nor near your face? Are you using Siri, which can be used for some things if the phone is locked (but not all things).

I'm not being condescending in any way. But what you're describing simply doesn't exist. You can turn off Require Face ID for unlock in Settings > Face ID & Passcode, but if you do that, you will be required to enter your passcode to unlock your phone.

I think you're a bit confused. If you have a Passcode and Face ID enabled on your iPhone, you must use either to unlock your phone. Face ID works without you realizing its working. You would have to enter your passcode if you power off the phone and turn it back on or you update iOS you enter your passcode immediately after the update completes. You don't, nor have you ever had an option to not use either your passcode or Face ID to open your phone.

So, it's not really clear what you're expecting here?

Sorry, but Face ID scans in the dark. It uses an Infrared Camera system. You may not be aware that you are using Face ID, even in the dark, but you are. So, I'm not confused at all. Please tell me where you think such a setting resides in settings? Hint. You can't, because such a setting doesn't exist.

Obviously, I need my passcode when I switch on the phone after it's been turned off. But I disabled requiring it just for unlocking it -in the sense of, picking it up while it's on. I did that when I first set it up (it was only required after not pickung up the phone at all for a couple hours). And no, it's not scanning my face, because Face ID regularly isn't working at night in the dark but the phone opened with no issues - lying next to my pillow, so my face wasn't anywhere near the camera.

Your claim that it's not possible is simply untrue. When setting up an iphone, you can opt to skip these specifically for unlocking the phone, although you get warnings against doing so.

It can't scan my face when my face is nowhere near the phone, lol. I won't go into detail as that's health related and private, but yeah, my face is not near the phone.

And I get plenty of times when face ID doesn't work in the dark and I need to turn on the light.

Could people stop condescending, please, let's wait until someone who knows this replies. Just cause you always followed the prompts when setting up your phones, doesn't mean it's not possible to skip them.

I set it up that way when I first got the phone. It's possible.

Just cause it's rarely done, doesn't mean the option doesn't exist.
