Is my overheating iPhone 17 Pro Max safe to charge after a stuck charger?

So I just got an iPhone 17 pro max about a month ago and have noticed it getting quite warm while charging. I woke up in the night and the charger was too hot to touch. I managed to get the charger out but the piece broke off inside the phone. I managed to get it out. There was a temperature warning and I couldn’t use the phone until it cooled down. So my question is, is it safe to charge my phone? Is it damaged now due to the charger getting stuck in it? Is the phone just not working properly? Has anyone else been in this situation?
