Since I applied the security update to Safari (version 26.5) I'm getting a pop-up demanding a certificate to verify my identity when I hit certain sites (nytimes.com, in particular).
The message reads "The website 'pay.sandbox.google.com' requires a client certificate".
I hit the cancel button, but it keeps coming back.
Anyone else had this problem?

Seeing the same issue here, specifically on the NYT website since yesterday (5/29/26).
Looked like some kind of malware to me at first so it’s good to get confirmation someone else is seeing it as well.
I’ve been hitting “cancel” but it’s been coming back.
So maybe this is about the NYT site and not the update to Safari …

No: I'm getting it on various sites, including e-commerce sites. The problem would seem to be with Safari.
