Mighty Mouse right click sensitive after cleaning

Hi everyone,

I recently cleaned and polished my Bluetooth Mighty Mouse. After polishing, I noticed a strange problem.

Now the right click activates immediately — even if I just bring my finger slightly close to the area where the right sensor is located. This never happened before.

I also want to be clear: during assembly and disassembly, I did not bend, break, or tear anything. Everything is physically intact.

It looks like the capacitive sensors (which are glued to the inside of the top shell) have become closer to my fingers after polishing. But honestly, I don't think I sanded down that much plastic.

Has anyone else run into this exact problem — or something very similar?

I would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

First of all, there is no such mouse as a "Mighty Mouse." At least not that Apple sells. Do you mean "Magic Mouse?" Secondly, what do you mean you "polished" it? That implies you used an abrasive of some kind, which should never be used. If you did and it's not working as it did before you did whatever you did, you clearly damaged the mouse, which would be user caused damage and would never be covered under warranty. We can't help you with this. You need to take it to your Apple Store, but if they determine you used an abrasive to polish your mouse, you'll be buying a new mouse.

The Mighty Mouse (model A1152) was sold by Apple from 2005 to 2009 — before the Magic Mouse was introduced. It is even mentioned on Apple's old support website. I am not asking for warranty coverage — the mouse is old. I am simply asking for advice from anyone who has experienced a similar issue after cleaning and polishing.

OK. It's not a model I've ever heard of and by your own admission was discontinued 17 years ago. I'd be very surprised if you find anyone here who has any current experience with a mouse from 17 years ago and who also "polished" it.
