iPhone 16 Pro Max battery drain & overheating after iOS 26.5

I am experiencing severe battery drain issues on my iPhone 16 Pro Max immediately after updating to iOS 26.5. The device was purchased only in October 2025, and considering it is still relatively new, this level of battery deterioration within such a short period is extremely concerning.

Before the update, the battery performance was stable and reliable. However, after installing iOS 26.5, the phone has started losing charge abnormally fast even during minimal usage such as mobile data browsing, social media usage, and standby mode. In addition to the battery drain, the device is also heating noticeably during regular use, especially while connected to mobile data.

This issue is affecting the overall usability of the phone and creating serious concern regarding the software optimization and battery health management after the update. Since the device is new and the battery health is still comparatively high, such aggressive battery consumption is unexpected and unacceptable for a flagship device.

I would like a proper clarification regarding:

  1. Whether this abnormal battery drain and overheating issue is a known problem associated with iOS 26.5.
  2. If background indexing or post update optimization processes could be causing excessive battery usage.
  3. How long it usually takes for the battery performance to stabilize after a major software update.
  4. Whether this issue could potentially affect long term battery health and device lifespan.
  5. What official steps are recommended to diagnose and resolve this problem.

Considering the premium nature of the device and the short ownership period, I expect a clear explanation and appropriate resolution regarding this issue.

The measure of battery health deterioration/drainage is subjective and can vary depending on individual usage patterns. There is no universal standard to determine whether the battery health deterioration/drainage is normal or abnormal because it heavily relies on how the battery is used and maintained.
