Apple Watch suggestion won't start iPhone navigation

Apple has learned my routine and my Apple Watch will suggest a location during times when I usually go. The problem is selecting it does not initiate navigation. It just opens Maps on my Apple Watch. That’s it. How do I get it to open navigation on my iPhone AND start navigating me there when selecting it? Is there a mysterious long press or hidden menu I’m supposed to know about
