Apple Intelligence causes excessive storage usage and battery drain on iPhone 16 Pro

When enabling Apple Intelligence on my iPhone 16 Pro it gets a pain to take pictures or small videos during the day. As soon as you record a video (<30 seconds) or take some 20-30 pictures the phone gets constantly hot and the battery drains like a leaky bucket. Even worse, the storage consumption of the „System Data“ jumps up to something in the range of 30-40GB filling up all free space. And that’s when before that about 8-10GB free space were available.

I understand that doing some AI magic analysing the pictures and video to be able to tell if there’s a cat in the pictures. But shouldn’t that be done when the phone is connected to a power plug having enough energy at hand? And why fill up all space making the phone unusable just for such analysis?

Right now Apple Intelligence is not usable on an iPhone for trips. If you constantly have to fear that the next picture or video you take will kill your phone that’s just ridiculous.

Or is there any way to prevent this massif battery and free storage drain of Apple Intelligence?
