Cannot remove 'Edit' split screen in iPad Calendar

Ipad calendar: cannot remove "EDIT" split screen. Dragging the window left or right doesn't work; 3... full screen view doesn't work:

iPad, iPadOS 16

Tap “Edit”. Then tap the “X” in the corner.
