"LL" also being used for some replacement units - that is to say iPhone are the ones that insert the sims slot

Who did you purchase the phone from? LotusPilot is correct in saying a phone model number ending in LL/A was manufactured for the US and Canada. Since you suggest it's an iPhone 14, it should NOT have a Sim Card slot at all. It should be eSim only. If your phone does, something was altered along the way and since it's a used phone, no one here can guess what you actually bought. If you are concerned about it, return it for refund. iPhone 14 models with a dual physical SIM were manufactured for the China, Macau and Hong Kong markets.

The “N” prefix to Apple's model identifier indicates a “replacement device”.

This is the full list of prefix identifiers - and their meaning.

  • M – Brand new device, meaning the device was purchased new
  • F – Refurbished device, meaning the device has been through refurbishing process
  • N – Replacement device, meaning the originally bought device was replaced by this model likely due to a service request
  • P – Personalized device with engraving, meaning the device was customized with an engraving on purchase

The model number also encodes the region in which the iPhone was intended for sale. Region coding affects availability of some devices features and functionality.

"LL" indicates that the iPhone was intended for the USA and Canadian markets - "LL" also being used for some replacement units
