Both brand new and old pencil wont charge past 0%

hello,

I have an older ipad pro with a 2nd gen pencil, i didnt use it for a bit but the pencil stayed on the ipads side so it shouldve been okay. Tried using it and it wont charge past 0% and then disconnects. Looked up what could be the cause and saw a lot of cases where the battery on the pencil probably went dead. Got a brand new pencil, also gen 2, and theres the same issue. Connects only to display 0% battery and then disconnects. Tried wiping the side of my ipad, and restarting both bluetooth and the ipad itself. Someone please help.

Are you using a fitted case with your iPad? If so, try removing the case - as some fitted cases interfere with correct positioning of the Pencil. The Pencil must make physical contact with the iPad's inductive charging pad - and be correctly aligned - before the Pencil will pair and charge.
