Mac Mini M4 USB-C to USB-A splitter recommendations

I recently purchased a Mac Mini M4 pro and need a USB-C to USB-A splitter/adaptor (1 USB-C to 6 USB-A). I have read some of the reviews on Amazon and noticed some people had problems with some adaptors and the M4 chips. Does anyone have any recommendations for these adaptors (with links to buy them please)? I will be using a USB-A Keyboard and Mouse so looking for something that will be plug and play. I will also be using this for an external hard drive, so I think it will require one with a external power source.

You will need a USB-C Hub that has a dedicated USB-C pass-through power connection...

There are many third-party USB Hubs that have a USB-C connection for the host computer (this often being a USB-C pigtail connection) - plus a USB-C PD (Power Delivery) pass-through power connector to which you can connect your USB-C Power Adapter - along with the hub itself incorporating a combination of additional USB-C ports, USB 2.0/3.1 Type-A ports, Ethernet LAN, HDMI, VGA, SD and microSD card-readers - and in some cases, a 3.5mm analog audio/headphone jack.

Perhaps consider Kingston, Anker, Hyperdrive and Satechi - although there are many others from which to choose. A Google Search for USB-C Hubs compatible with Mac will find a number of articles and recommendations.

When I bought my M4 mini I had a 10 port powered hub I was using with an older computer. All I had to do was buy a converter cable to went from USB-A/B to USB-C. I use my powered hub with a keyboard, mouse, and external drive (that is also independently powered) and then maybe also a flash drive or some other brief use peripheral. There are no problems. Yes, it is USB 2 but for backup purposes I don't care if it is slower since I have my computer set to backup every 2 hours. A keyboard and mouse certainly don't need anything faster. USB 2 hubs will be a lot cheaper now that they are old tech.

Thank you!

You are very welcome.

Hopefully, now armed with appropriate knowledge, you will be able to identify a USB hub that meets your needs. The benefit of a USB-C powered hub, itself powered from a suitable USB-C Power Adapter, is the hub itself being able to charge the host computer and simultaneously supply power to connected USB peripherals.

Hard Disk Drives (HDD) are notoriously power-hungry.
