Can desktop items be limited to one desktop space?

I have a setup with multiple desktop spaces which I use to hold various open apps.

I like to leave folders / documents on the desktop as visual placeholders for me so I can get a reminder what I am working on, so for example at the moment I have a few folders relating to agenda items and documents for meetings I have next week.

If I swipe between desktop spaces, these folders / documents persist: they seem to be present in all desktop spaces.

Is there any way of making sure that desktop items are only present on one desktop space but not another? I'm thinking the answer is probably 'no' because there is only one 'Desktop' folder in Finder but I thought I'd ask the team here! Ta.

[aside: if I have a 2 screen setup, eg by opening my MacBook up instead of using it in clamshell mode, a space is created which does not replicate the files and folders... maybe then it is possible....]
