After EVERY iOS update, the first things I do is Force Restart my iPhone. Did you do this? --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
Keep this procedure handy and incorporate it into your update routine.
I had been successfully using my iphone15 for several months before the iOS 26.5 "upgrade," upon the installation of which: my phone answering machine was replaced with an invitation to enter a password; the failure of the options to override this spurious message with one I had actually created; hearing aid issues which stopped when I disconnected from BlueTooth. Since the one thing that changed immediately prior to when I started having problems with the iphone 15, was this iOS update, logic points to the iOS update being the culprit. Once one starts looking for reports of iOS 26.5 problems, they aren't hard to find at all. Some problems may be specific to a particular device, but if the device was working fine before the iOS update, logic points to the iOS update being the source of the trouble.
Being gaslit after experiencing all these problems is making those who are reporting them (justifiably) angrier than ever!

my phone is being really slow on everything and sometimes on safari I can’t even click on certain things anymore that were working fine the day before the update
Not every issue an individual encounters on their device can be attributed to an iOS update. If the update itself were the root cause, then every device running that same version of iOS would exhibit the identical problem. In such a scenario, the forums would be flooded with countless posts reporting the same malfunction, creating an unmistakable wave of complaints that no one could possibly overlook. The absence of such widespread reports strongly indicates that the issue is not systemic, but rather specific to the device in question.
My phone automatically updated while I was at the nail salon. Not connected to WiFi. I had 24 unread messages and they’re all gone from my phone.
iOS 26.5.1 made my iPhone 17 pro laggy, frame drops. Horrible
