Sequoia 15.7.7 update hang and black screen issue

I've updated two of my systems to 15.7.7, iMac & MacBook Pro, and have had issues with both updates. The update runs and then the systems seem to hang and the display goes black after a few hours with only the cursor active. Have waited over 12 hours for it to complete. Finally on both systems I have had to do a hard shutdown and restart to get the system to reboot. After reboot system seems to be fine and shows it has updated to 15.7.7.

Has anyone experienced this issue?

I just had this issue on my M4 Air. I waited for a more than reasonable time and then followed instructions I looked up to try safe mode. That didn’t work because safe mode was hung up also and finder was unresponsive and unable to force quit. The rest of the screen was black. One try I had a menu bar for a third party app I had left open which may have caused my issue. I was able to force quit that app but still got a black screen and wheel of forever while finder was still stuck.

I’m reinstalling Sequoia but I’m afraid to update it again if that issue wasn’t actually my fault.
