Messages not syncing iPhone/iPad, different numbers

Messages are not syncing between iPhone and iPad. iPad is assigned a different phone line/number. Do I need to add that phone number to “Send & Receive”?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 26

Try signing out and back into Messages on your iPhone, then ensure Messages is enabled in iCloud under System Settings ➢ Apple Account ➢ iCloud.

This usually forces a sync with your iPad.
