You have to be a registered developer to download the iOS 27 Beta. And if you only have one phone, you most definitely should NOT do that. iOS 27 won't be released to the general public until this fall. If you're smart, you'll wait until it is officially released.

Is your iPhone 15 a "spare" phone? One that you do not need for reliable day to day service?

We ask because Apple strongly recommends only installing beta software on a spare phone. You would be wise to pay close attention to Apple's recommendations.

If you think installing an early beta means that you get polished, production-ready software on your phone much earlier than anyone else – think again. It means that you get to be a guinea pig for all the bugs, incompatibilities, and rough edges that might pop up.

According to MacTracker, every version of iOS since iOS 6 has come out some time in September. So assuming that your iPhone 15 is your main and only phone, you have about 3-4 months to wait for the likely official release.

Register for the Public beta program on Apple’s website. Be aware, there is no Apple support for issues with beta software on your device, not online or in store. Make sure you backup your device fully before you install the beta. Some apps may not function properly or may not function at all. You’ll be your own support person. Uninstalling a beta requires wiping your device and all data.

You're welcome. Personally as experienced as I am with all things iPhone/iPad/MacBook Pro/Apple Watch, I NEVER load beta software on any of my devices. I'm very happy to let others figure out what doesn't work through the testing phase, then get a stable version when it's released to all in the fall!

Again: you will want to use only a spare iPhone, and a phone where you don’t need the data uncorrupted, where you don’t need the third-party apps including banking apps to work, and where you can erase both the phone and the iCloud data associated with the Apple Account and start anew.

It's currently only available through Apple's beta programs. If you're a member of one of them, check it for instructions.
