Hi,
I have to say that I havent experienced this on my Apple Studio Display XDR (no other external monitor connected to my MAC Studio however) - according to my searches which may help:
Apple Studio Display XDR flashes bright white briefly primarily due to macOS Tahoe bugs affecting display controller behavior or mini-LED local dimming algorithms reacting to high-contrast content.
- macOS Tahoe Bug: Reports indicate a software issue in macOS Tahoe (released September 2025) causes intermittent flickering, often triggered by switching apps, entering full-screen video, or when the Mac is under task load.
- Display Controller Dithering: The flicker may stem from Apple’s default temporal dithering used to simulate smoother gradients; users report resolving this by using the third-party utility Stillcolor to override display controller settings.
- HDR/SDR Brightness Sync: Some users note the flash occurs when HDR content appears or disappears, suggesting a sync issue between gamma adjustments and backlight brightness.
- Mini-LED Artifacts: As a mini-LED panel, the 2,304 dimming zones may cause visible vignetting or shadowing on solid colors, though a brief full-screen white flash is typically a software or controller glitch rather than a panel defect.
- Workarounds: Try switching color profiles (e.g., from P3-600 to P3-D65 or Photography), disabling True Tone and Auto Brightness, or using a certified Thunderbolt cable to rule out connection instability.
