Numbers: Issues with function parameters and editing

How do I enter Function parameters in Numbers? Tapping on the parameter icon frequently does nothing.

example:

TEXTAFTER(source-string,search-string,occurrence)

Frequently, tapping on the parameter labels (e. g. tapping on Occurrence does nothing) it doesn’t even place a comma into my parameter entry.

Is there a way to edit a function in case it doesn’t work or has a syntax error? Tapping the X seems to erase the whole entry.

It would also be nice if there was a description of what the function does.

I'm also having trouble on an iPhone to use the TEXTAFTER suggested format. (In our previous discussion, I was using my iPad which did not have this issue.)

I guess on an iPhone you will need to type all the letters, numbers and commas one by one, e.g =textafter(a2," ",1). (I purposefully wrote the string in lowercase to show you that you can type the whole formula manually.)

Here is the help file for the TEXTAFTER function: TEXTAFTER - Apple Support. The whole functions guide is here: Formulas and Functions Help - Apple Support.
