Mac Studio apps open on secondary monitor

Guys and Girls,

I have 2 monitors on my Mac Studio. The primary is right in front of me and the secondary is angled to my left. My problem is that every time I open an application or a document it opens on my secondary monitor and not in front of me. It's just annoying. I'm sure I can correct it with some Setting but I have had no luck.

Any ideas?

Phil

Hi Phil, this is usually a display assignment issue in macOS. The quickest fix is to set your front monitor as the main display, then stop apps from remembering the wrong screen.

Try this first

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Displays.
  3. Click the monitor that is directly in front of you.
  4. Set it as the main display if that option is shown.

If apps still open on the left monitor

  • Open the app on the monitor you want.
  • Right-click the app in the Dock.
  • Choose Options.
  • Set it to This Desktop or remove any display assignment.
