Mac Mini M1 does not recognize USB SuperDrive A1379

My Mac Mini M1 2020 (Tahoe 26.4.1) is connected to my USB SuperDrive A1379. The Mini doesn't recognize the SuperDrive. I've connected and reconnected the drive and restarted the Mini, with no success. I worked just fine yesterday afternoon when I was downloading pictures from CDs. I'd like to continue that project. Would appreciate any help.

If you are using a USB-A to USB-C plug adapter, might try a different one.

You might also try simply turning the plug adapter 180° in the computer port. Just turn it over.

Try another computer port.

Don’t connect to Apple SuperDrive thru a hub or dock.

Finder will not recognize an empty drive. You must insert an optical disc for Finder to work with.
