Why won’t new iPhone list in Find My app on iPhone SE?

I have an iPhone SE 11 I think it is. My brother also had the same model and I was able to track him on the Find My app until he got his new iPhone 16. Ever since he got his new phone, I cannot find him on the Find My app. I can’t seem to add him or anything. Does anyone have a clue how I can accomplish this? He can see my phone, but I cannot see his phone.

What did your brother do with his old iPhone when he got a new one?

Also, what does it display in the Find My app when you try to track him? No Location Found? Offline? Cannot add him at all?

If he did not remove it from his Apple Account or decided to keep it for any reason, Find My tracking would still be coming from that iPhone. He would need to set his new iPhone as the primary device for location tracking. He can do that by opening the Find My app > Tapping "Me" in the menu bar > select "Use this iPhone as My Location". In addition, your brother should verify his location services on his new iPhone by going to Settings > Privacy and Security > Location Services. See below for the many steps to check they are on.

Here are some Apple resources you may find helpful (two support pages with the same title!):

Share your location in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support

Share your location in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support

Set up location sharing

1. Go to the Find My app on your iPhone.

2. Tap Me at the bottom of the screen, then turn on Share My Location.

3. The device sharing your location appears next to From.

If your iPhone isn’t currently sharing your location, you can tap Use This iPhone as My Location.

Note: To share your location from another device, open Find My on the device and change your location to that device. If you share your location from an iPhone that’s paired with Apple Watch (GPS + Cellular models), your location is shared from your Apple Watch when you’re out of range of your iPhone and Apple Watch is on your wrist.

You can also change your location sharing settings in Settings > [your name] > Find My.
