AirPods Max 2 have no sound when connected to Philips TV

Hello,

I'm having a problem when connecting my AirPods Max 2 to my Philips Ambilight 55OLED759 TV (TitanOS).

I have paired them successfully, but there is no sound coming through. Pressing the crown pauses and resumes apps such as Netflix however.

I have also done this with my AirPods Pro 1's and things work entirely as expected as soon as the connection is established.

I have been through all sorts of steps, such as unpairing, power cycling the tv, reinstalling the tv, nothing seems to work.

What could be causing this issue?

Kind regards

AirPods Max 2

UPDATE 2:

After some back and forth with their tech team, trying to correct the problem, they sent the following:

"Unfortunately, we have exhausted all available troubleshooting steps for this specific issue. Our investigation indicates that the symptom is caused by a software compatibility limitation between the TV and the Apple headphones.

The latest firmware update for the headphones implements strict A2DP connection parameters and aggressive power management features (optimised primarily for the Apple ecosystem and their proprietary multipoint functionality).

Consequently, while the TV's software can successfully establish a basic control layer - allowing functions such as Play/Pause to operate - the connection fails during the PCM/SBC audio stream handshake, resulting in a loss of audio output.

Please be assured that our technical department has logged this behaviour and is actively investigating the compatibility conflict for potential optimisation in a future software update."

Kind regards, Chiccada

I'm having the same problem with AirPods Max 2 connecting to my TCL TV. I use an Apple TV box to get around it. Most of the time that works, but not always. I also have a Sony DVD player but have not had any success getting the audio output to stream to the AirPods Max 2 headset. I have a library of movies, TV shows, Broadway shows, and orchestral concerts. I am totally disappointed that I can't hear the audio tracks with the splendid quality the AirPods Max 2 can provide. I have spent many hours with tech support. Apple has been cooperative, but many tech support advisors don't seem to understand the problem -- but those who do have worked hard to get the problem solved. Frequently, after getting a device connected to my Bluetooth network, I find that the Bluetooth controller software is incapable of connecting to any other source. The basic problem seems to be in the Bluetooth code on my TV, Max 2S, and Sony Disc player. Apparently no one imagined that an end user would want to use multiple program sources instead of whatever the internet service provider allows to flow through its equipment. My understanding is that standards such as Bluetooth are required to be compatible with devices from various manufacturers. Does anyone know of a control box that could switch Bluetooth sources from several devices and route the signal to the main system?

UPDATE: In dialogue with Philips regarding this, and during investigations I have been asked to capture log files.

Done all this but had a look myself to see if there was anything obvious. There was;

'[ERROR]: getDeviceCoD not MISAV audio device'

Anyone know what this could mean? Doing a web search isn't throwing up much help.

I should also add the headphones work fine with my LG OLED55C54LA TV.

Cheers.
