Software Issues - iPadOS 26.5

Hello. I recently purchased an iPad Pro 13in M5 two weeks ago with iPadOS 26.5 right out of the box. I had no issues with my device at first but lately thing have taken a 180. Sometimes my apps wont open. If I touch an app, the long press menu comes up instead of the app opening. In any email client, I cannot scroll through my mail. It will automatically make me select emails instead of scrolling. Sometimes, the lock and volume buttons will not work. Not to mention the heavy battery drain. These are the most annoying issues Im currently facing. Is anyone else experiencing these same problems? Have yall tried doing a full restore? Does it fix the issues if yall have? Any assistance or advice I can get will be helpful. Thank you. :/

You may have tried some of these tried and tested troubleshooting steps already...

If your iPad is not operating as expected, begin with a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated or post-update software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

If the problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings:

Otherwise, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively and perhaps easier, you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad. If a fault is identified, you'll be in the best possible place to explore your available options:

Hello,

Before going down the restore road, perhaps a simple restart may help matters.

If you have recently updated the iPadOS version, post update tasks can cause slow downs and use up battery more than normal. This usually goes back to normal after a couple of days. But again a restart can help it clear any lingering bugs after an update.

To answer your specific question, a full restore can save many issues, but if it's something hardware related with the screen, it may not do much.

Beyond that, if the screen issues persist, the iPad may be having a hardware issue. At two weeks, it's still under full warranty so a full replacement for free can be obtained.

I was trying to keep my post as short as possible but restarting does help with the isuess for a bit until they start up again. I havent updated the ipad because it came with the latest update (26.5) right out of the box. And I honestly dont think its an issue with the screen itself. For example, right now, everything it working fine BUT the lock button along with the volume bottoms are not working. If I want to unlock my screen I have to physically touch it because the lock/unlock button is unresponsive...along with volume up/down buttons.
