GarageBand: Copied regions silent when pasted

This is a Garageband bug.

I haven't tried to do this in a long time, but I'm pretty sure it worked for me once upon a time, and according to the internet it's supposed to work.

I am copying a region from one project to another (cmd-C; cmd-V) but it always ends up as a completely silent region, no wave form, no sound.

I can't find any mention of this exact problem anywhere.

Any idea what fixes this?

Are copying and pasting audio regions or midi regions? It should work, as long as you are pasting regions between the same kind of track - audio regions to an audio track, midi regions to a midi track. When pasting between midi tracks, the clip may become silent, if the instrument of the track cannot play the particular midi notes in the clip, not all instruments support the same range of notes. You may also want to check the automation curves, if the area where you are pasting to is silenced or transposed, or similar.
