Restart iPad setup to configure separately from iPhone

How do I go back to the beginning of setting up my new iPad? I realized I didn’t want a replication of my iPhone on it. I want the iPad to be separate from it.

iPadOS 26.5 Just got it. TIA

Starting again with setting-up your iPad is straightforward - and does not require a factory restore to restart the process.

From iPad settings, the iPad simply needs to be erased:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Erase All Content and Settings

When your iPad restarts, keep your iPhone and other devices well away from your iPad. Set-up the iPad "as new" using your Apple Account username and password. If offered the opportunity to restore from a backup, decline and continue to set-ip your iPad manually. In so doing, only data that has previously been synchronised with iCloud (such as your Contacts, Calendar, Notes etc.) will be synchronised with your iPad.
