Mac: How to share burned CD library on one Macbook between spouses?

My husband and I own a large collection of mostly classical music on CDs (~1500). We have separate phones, separate Apple IDs, but share a single Macbook computer using separate accounts. Neither of us subscribe to Apple Music; we prefer to listen to our existing music collection. Over the years I have manually burned on our computer a large number of our music CDs onto [iTunes/Apple Music] to listen to the CDs on the go in the car and elsewhere. My husband used to use a CD player in his car, but now his new car doesn't have a CD player but does have Apple CarPlay. So he can listen to the burned copies of the CDs using CarPlay, how do I set up his Apple Music account so we don't have reburn onto the computer on his account all the hundreds of CDs I have already burned? I am usually pretty tech saavy, but after three days of trying to get it to work, it seems like Apple wants to make it hard for us to share our own CD music collection. It seems "Home Sharing" won't work because it requires all the devices to be on the same network over WiFi, and we didn't purchase or download the music from Apple. I moved my entire "Music" collection to the "Shared" user folder, granted both me and my husband read and write access to all the music and the subsidiary folders, but then his account can't access the library even though I verified the permissions are set correctly. It works on my account, but not on his, saying the music library file is "locked." I also tried moving over all the databases (and there are a confusing number of different databases and indexes with a complicated folder structure, and my husband's and my accounts were both able to access a lot of the burned music but not any CDs I had burned since 2020. The files for the more recent music were in the database, but it seems they weren't in the index Apple Music library was using, so it didn't know the files were there. How should we configure things to share our burned CD collection and both be able to listen to it in our cars, without requiring my husband to reburn every CD and for our one computer to hold two copies of every burned file? (Heck, although it seems an inefficient, duplicative use of computer memory, I'd even clone the burned files and make our computer hold two copies of everything if it would save him from having to burn all over again every CD he wants to listen to on his own account.)
