There are a few reasons why your iPhone screen might dim unexpectedly. Here are some of the most common causes:
Please see the pic below and check the status of your settings on your device.
When your iPhone is exposed to bright sunlight or a fully lit room, the display may automatically dim or adjust its color balance to improve visibility and reduce eye strain. This behavior is part of iOS’s adaptive display features, such as True Tone, which continuously adjusts the screen’s color and brightness based on ambient lighting conditions.
If you prefer a consistent display appearance and don’t want the screen to change in response to lighting, you can disable True Tone:
With True Tone disabled, your iPhone will maintain a fixed color balance, though you may need to manually adjust brightness for comfort in different environments.
You might consider changing:
Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Auto-Brightness = “off”.
Read the associated caution note there.
I find mine dims overnight about once every ten days right now. I am sorry to learn yours is dimming to. My iPhone does not get warm overnight and although I do not get mad, it is annoying that I have to manually adjust the brightness due to it magically lowering the brightness overnight.
All the suggestions to turn off, I turned off or they were never turned on. It has never happened on any other iPhones. Currently, 17 Pro Max 2 TB iOS 27.0. This has been going on for about 10 months now. I do not recall this happening to the 16 Pro Max or earlier versions of iPhones.
