Mac Mini not displaying connected iPad. Why?

My M2 Mac Mini running latest version of Tahoe is not displaying my iPad in the sidebar. When I open the Macintosh HD window, there is no sidebar where the connected devices used to be. The Mac Mini is clearly connected to my iPad, as when I open my Photos app, on my Mac, the iPad is listed there. However, even when I disconnect the iPad, there is no longer any warning that the disk has been properly ejected.

iPad Pro, iPadOS 26

Have you accidentally hidden the Finder sidebar on the Mac?

In Finder click View > Show Sidebar.

Maybe you've collapsed the Locations display in the sidebar?

Hover your mouse pointer on the word Locations and then click the small arrow that appears to the right. Items listed under Locations should now be displayed.
