Add individual ringtones to iTunes without merging

I'm adding several separate sounds to the iTunes library to import in as ring tones. I'm new & returning to iPhone & iTunes. How can I add several sounds (1 at a time for individual separate sounds without them allrunning together as 1 sound file running back to back with the next sound file, (1 Continuous sound; all running and playing back to back non-stop)?
