When performing the Force Restart the last step of holding the button until the Apple logo appears could take up to 15 seconds and you have to ignore anything else on the screen including the prompt to Slide to Power Off. If you don't see the Apple logo after holding the button, then try again as it may take a couple of attempts to get the speed and sequence correct.

Called support as this did not work for me. Actually, I could not figure out how to do a force restart via any info online. Siri button issues. EZ mode, etc. That did not fix my icons though. Turned out my custom colors and backgrounds caused the problem. We figured this out when I was showing why I didn't want to reset to display to defaults, set dark mode, and the icons were visible. No settings seems to get everything I wanted. But I downloaded a new wallpaper, and that fixed it.

I sent feedback to Apple that pushing visibility changes -- especially in the 2nd dog updates is undesirable. why not do them in a trial part of finishing the upgrade as many other things are done. I'd be fine with a setting that says I have vision issues and am sensitive to changes. Plus, perhaps they should test their icons over these changes. Challenge to QA or beta testers...
