How to update iOS 16.3

If an iOS update is available for your model of iPhone, it will be both visible and installable from iPhone settings:

Should you have an older model iPhone that is incapable of update to a more recent version of iOS, if you want or need to use Apps that require a more recent version of iOS than your iPhone supports, your only option is to replace your current iPhone with a much newer or current model of iPhone.

Are you asking how to update from iOS 16.3 to something higher? Or how to update to iOS 16.3?

Often when we see questions like this it is because an OP has an older iPhone and wants to install an app that does not support old iPhones. E.g., the App Store tells the OP that they need iOS 16.3 or later, and Software Update doesn't give the OP the option of updating that far. Then the OP comes here asking how to update their existing phone to iOS 16.3.

The iPhone 5s, 6, and 6 Plus cannot update to iOS 13 or higher. The iPhone 6s, 7, and 7 Plus cannot update to iOS 16 or higher. If you have one of those phones, and want to run an app that requires "iOS 16.3 or later", you will need to do without the app, or to get a newer phone.

Open Settings ➢ General ➢ Software Update.

If you get the message; "iOS is up to date", then your iPhone has reached the end-of-life support for Software Updates to the latest iOS operating system, depriving you of new features created many years ago.

Many modern apps are not compatible, limiting the usability of your device.
