Hi,
iPhone Work Focus randomly turning on is typically caused by Smart Activation, overlapping location-based schedules, or accidental triggers like Lock Screen changes or Shortcuts automations.
Primary Causes and Fixes:
- Disable Smart Activation: Go to Settings > Focus > Work and toggle off Smart Activation.
This prevents iOS from enabling the mode based on app usage or inferred routines.
- Check Location Triggers: Review the Set a Schedule section.
Large location radii (e.g., "Work") can trigger the mode when you are merely nearby. Delete any location-based schedules or reduce the radius if possible.
- Remove Shortcuts Automations: Check the Shortcuts app under Automation.
- An "Arrive at Location" automation can silently turn on Focus modes. Delete any unused or conflicting automations.
- Inspect Lock Screen Associations: If a Lock Screen wallpaper is tied to Work Focus, switching to that wallpaper activates the mode.
Unlink the wallpaper by tapping the Focus button while customizing the Lock Screen.
- Delete and Recreate: If the mode persists despite these settings, Delete the Work Focus entirely (scroll to the bottom of the Focus settings) and create a new one from scratch to clear any corrupted configuration data.
