Focus Mode to disable Hey Siri in healthcare

does anyone have any suggestions for settings/shortcut for a HIPAA focus mode

I work in a healthcare setting, and sometimes I have either my phone or Apple Watch on me. While it’s pretty rare sometimes Siri will activate unintentionally while talking with a patient and I was hoping to make a focus mode that disables Listen for “Hey Siri”.

iK the obvious answer is to just turn the setting off manually when I’m at work, but it would be nice if I could do this in a focus mode or shortcut.

alternatively, or maybe in addition, if in this mode I’d like it so any outgoing messages have a delay so it can be deleted if needed and require a physical tap from the user before even queueing to send (and maybe Face ID)

maybe this is too far, but while in this mode safari only allows private browsing, and aggressively closes tabs when not used for a minute or two.

Great use case for a custom Focus mode — here's how you can set this up on iPhone/Apple Watch:

1. Disable "Hey Siri" via Focus mode:

Unfortunately, iOS does not currently allow toggling Siri's "Listen for Hey Siri" on/off as part of a Focus mode directly. However, there's a practical workaround:

- Go to Settings > Siri & Search > Listen for "Hey Siri" and turn it off as your default.

- Use a Shortcut automation triggered when your Work/Healthcare Focus activates: create a Shortcut that reminds you via a banner, or better yet, use the Focus filter to minimize accidental triggers.

- Alternatively, consider using AssistiveTouch or a Back Tap shortcut to invoke Siri manually instead of voice activation.

2. For message send delay (Undo Send):

- Go to Settings > Messages > Undo Send Delay and set it to 30 seconds. This gives you a window to cancel any accidental sends.

3. For Safari private-only browsing in Focus:

- In your Focus settings, under App Filters, add Safari and set it to "Always Private Browsing." This is available in iOS 16+ as a Focus Filter.

4. For Apple Watch:

- Mirror your iPhone Focus on your Watch via Watch app > General > Mirror my iPhone.

- You can also turn off the "Raise to Speak" Siri trigger on Apple Watch: Watch app > Siri > Raise to Speak (toggle off).

A formal "HIPAA Focus mode" with all these capabilities in one place isn't natively supported yet, but combining these settings gets you very close. It may also be worth submitting feedback to Apple at feedbackassistant.apple.com to request this as a built-in option.
