MacBook Air: Email subfolders missing after renaming folder

Mac Book Air using Tahoe 26.5.1 Chip: M2 2023.

I changed the name of an eMail folder manually; all of the sub folders disappeared. Is there a way I can retrieve them?

Odd. I've never seen this and wouldn't expect it. What did you rename it from and to?

It might be that your mailboxes haven't synched with the server yet. In the Mail menu bar hit Mailbox/Rebuild

If you know something about one of the emails in the missing folders you could try searching for it. If it finds it then at least you know you've probably not lost them.

Make sure you're not looking for the missing folders in a smart folder. If you are then the name change might have made them disappear cos they no longer meet the smart-folder conditions.

Do you keep Time Machine backups?

I would say that I "messed up," an understatement. My skill set has trouble keeping up with all the changes, etc. these days.

This is my drop down menu. Is this where you wanted me to look?

Right now, I can't think of a eMail. My brain is fried, at this point.

To my knowledge, I have never made a "Smart Folder."

I do have a Time Machine and not been using it. I purchased a plug in hard drive and I have yet to use it (not smart). I knew my eMails were duplicated in my google account and I looked there but nope....

All in all, I anticipate that I may just have to accept the fact that they are "gone."

Thanks for your prompt response. Please let me know me know about the Mailbox/Rebuild option.

Thank you for pointing that out to me; a good reminder.

Well, much to my surprise, I just opened my mail and all 6 of the sub folders are now available. So it would seem that your first comment about not having enough time to yet synch with the servers must have been the correct answer.

Thank very much for your assistance. I obviously should have checked out the other Menu Options.
