iDrive backup full-res iCloud Photos with Optimize Storage

I have a question around iCloud and iDrive (backup app) integration on iPhone.

I currently use the iDrive backup app to backup my camera roll on my iPhone. I intend to start using iCloud to store my photos with "Optimize Storage" enabled due to iPhone space limitations. Once doing this, only low-resolution photos will be stored on my phone.

Will iDrive have access to backup the full-resolution photos stored in iCloud or will the backup app only have access to the low-resolution photos? I want to ensure high-resolution photos/videos continue to be backed up by my backup app on my phone.

And the vendor wrote the code for that app and its activities and whether or not you have a choice in this particular instance or what exactly it points to. I wonder why they will not address your question. From their standpoint, it should be a simple answer.

My guess is if you are optimizing Photos, the smaller version is what will be backed up.

Ultimately the vendor needs to address your question. Personally I would contact them again, and escalate the question. You also may want to read the most recent reviews in the app store.

The company does have an App specifically for Photos that claims to backup images in their “original resolution” but nothing about what that actually means.

Sonce iDrive isn’t anApple product, you would likely get better response contacting the Vendoe’s support

Unfortunately they are directing me to Apple. Essentially the question is, when the app requests an image to backup, is it supplied a low-resolution or high-resolution image/video.
