Apple Gift Card not working after refund

After an order that failed to be delivered, in store pickup orders that would not process, and one particularly infuriating visit to my local Apple Store, I am still without an iPad (that I need for work) to replace mine that I traded in for credit.

I am now waiting for a reply to my case regarding the gift card apple refunded and sent to me not working

Does anyone have experience with submitting a case over a nonfunctional gift card? How long does it usually take them to respond? When I asked the agent on the phone she said "uhhhh that's a great question..........I would guess 24-48 hours."
