Apple Photos on iPad not displaying full image
When I’m using Apple Photos on my iPad, I have difficulty getting the window sized to show me the full image. Is there a setting that will ensure that the full image is displayed?

In the Photos app on iPad, there are a few ways to ensure you see the full image:
1. Double-tap to fit the full image to screen:
- When viewing a photo, double-tap it once to fit it to the screen (if it was previously zoomed in)
- Pinch in with two fingers to zoom out to the "fit" view
2. Toggle fill/fit mode:
- When a photo is open, tap once to show controls
- Look for an expand icon at the top right — this toggles between fit-to-screen and fill-screen
3. If photos appear cropped in grid/album view:
- This is normal for thumbnail view; tap the photo to open it full size
- Double-tap the opened photo to reset zoom to "fit"
4. Aspect ratio differences:
- Photos with different aspect ratios than your iPad screen will show black bars to preserve the full image — this is correct behaviour, not a bug
5. Check Display Zoom:
- Settings > Display & Brightness > Display Zoom — set to Standard if it's on Larger Text/Zoomed
If you're seeing photos that appear cut off even after tapping to open them, let me know which type of photos (panoramas, screenshots, specific formats) and I can give more targeted steps.

None of those worked for me. The only solution I found is to set multitask in settings so apps have their own window and I resize the Photo app window to fit the photo size that is different from iPad screen ratio. That way all of them appears fully, even if some (those with iPad ratio) will show smaller.

I'm confused by this. I'm not sure if it's an aspect ratio question, or maybe it's about the thumbnail views. I'm not sure if you're holding the iPad horizontally or vertically. I don't know where your pictures come from.
The best way to get someone here to address your issue is to include a screenshots:
Take a screenshot on iPad - Apple Support
Then include the screenshot here using this:
at the bottom of the text entry window.
