Siri on HomePod delivers news in French instead of English

I live in Canada. I speak English. When I ask Siri on HomePod, “What’s the latest news?” I do indeed get the latest news, but not as expected, in English from CBC. Instead I get the latest news in French from RADIO-CANADA.

Siri on HomePod has figured out that l live in Canada and it could surely find out that I speak English instead of French.

Please make Siri on HomePod smart enough to know that I speak English and thus give me the latest news in English from CBC instead of the latest news in French from RADIO-CANADA.

This is a known behaviour in bilingual Canada, where Siri on HomePod defaults to French news sources based on region rather than your Siri language. Here are the steps to fix it:

1. Check HomePod language:

- Open the Home app > long-press your HomePod > tap the gear icon

- Find "Language" or "Siri Language" and make sure it is set to English (Canada)

2. Check Siri language on your iPhone:

- Settings > Siri > Language > set to English (Canada)

3. If still returning French news, try resetting:

- Remove the HomePod from the Home app and re-add it

- During setup, explicitly choose English as the language

4. Workaround: Ask Siri specifically "What's the latest news from CBC?" to force an English-language source

If setting Language to English (Canada) doesn't fix it, report the issue at feedbackassistant.apple.com under HomePod > Siri. Apple should prioritise the configured Siri language for news source selection, not just the device region.
