The video fade handle in iMovie can be tricky to locate — it only appears when you hover directly over the beginning or end of a video clip in the timeline. Here are some things to check:

1. Hover over the very start or end of the clip: Move your cursor slowly to the very beginning or end edge of the video clip in the timeline. The fade handle appears as a small circle icon at the corner of the clip. It only shows up on hover, so make sure you're moving your mouse to the absolute edge of the clip.

2. Make sure the clip is long enough: Fade handles require the clip to be at a minimum length. If your clip is very short, the handles may not appear.

3. Check if you're in the correct view: Make sure you're in the iMovie timeline (not the browser panel). Video fade handles only appear in the timeline view.

4. Try zooming in on the timeline: In iMovie, use the zoom slider at the bottom-right of the timeline to zoom in. This makes the fade handle easier to click and access.

5. Quit and relaunch iMovie: Sometimes a simple relaunch resolves display glitches where UI elements like fade handles stop appearing.

6. Reset iMovie preferences: Quit iMovie, then hold Option while relaunching it — you'll be given an option to reset the library or preferences, which can resolve persistent UI issues.

Note that iMovie's video fade handle controls the opacity/fade of the video track itself (fade to black), while the audio fade handle controls the volume fade. They are separate handles located at the same corners of the clip.
