First of all, iPhones are small computers, you can hold in your hand, which also takes photos and makes and receives phone calls. They are never really idle, even when not being used. Background activities, such as fetching email, app refresh, indexing data, remaining connected to either a cellular network or Wifi are going to drain any phone's battery.

But to really see what is using the most power, open Settings > Battery and you'll see a list of everything which has consumed power. You may see apps like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, which are all Meta apps, which are notorious for draining a battery. I find those apps should be force closed when not being actively used.

Are you plugging your phone in to charge when you go to bed at night with Optimized Battery Charging turned on and leaving it on charge ALL night, EVERY night? If no, you should be doing this to ensure the health of your battery and to start the day with a full days charge.

There are alway background processes working in your phone, even at "idle." Some check for new incoming messages, others for updates or document changes, and others maintain on-standby conditions for your cellular service so you don't miss calls.

Web pages left update constantly. Leaving a browser window open that you don't need to access in the next few minutes will increase rate of drain.

Most processes only stop when you turn OFF the phone. Even then, a small amount of battery power is needed to maintain your user settings. Otherwise, you would have to reenter all your personal settings every time you started the phone.

If you have ill-advisedly installed aftermarket "security" or "cleaning" apps, check your feet for self-inflicted wounds. The new mayhem-makers for all Apple device are "client-side†" VPNs. They can cause serious battery drain while doing nothing to make your phone safer.

The measure of battery health deterioration/drainage is subjective and can vary depending on individual usage patterns. There is no universal standard to determine whether the battery health deterioration/drainage is normal or abnormal because it heavily relies on how the battery is used and maintained.

Sika ~ Does the device itself confirm that it's entirely new?...

Go to:

Settings > General > About

...Do you see a 'Parts & Service' section there?

If so, tap it and in the resulting pane, does it say anything about any parts being 'Unknown'?

Yes always did that, and I have all backgrounds app refresh entirely off and email are set to fetch manually, I have toggle off Always on display I have did everything necessary but still drain. Sometimes you will open battery chart and see 19 percent usage but there will be no specific app listed ,sometime when is on airplane mode it’s still drains. My degraded iPhone XR last longer than a my brand new iPhone 17 is awful
