Game Center and Games App won't load on iPhone and iPad

Game Center Settings (and Games App) won't load on iPhone or iPad.

iPhone 15pro iOS 26.5.

iPad A16 (11th gen) iPadOS 26.5

Same result on both devices: Games App stuck on black "Loading" screen. Settings -> Game Center results in same blank "loading" screen with spinning icon:

Was able to access a specific game leaderboard using the Mac version of a game (game is not in Arcade). Once in Game Center on my Mac through that game, I can see the leaderboards and achievements of other games.

I can also access Game Center Settings on my Mac (M4 mini Mac OS 15.7.7). This is through the Mac Settings App.

I can also see my "Game Center Profile" using my Mac (through the App Store App).

Should I log out of Game Center using my Mac (the only way I can as iPhone an iPad are not able to access)? Concerned about logging back in.

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 26

Hi Dave! This is a known issue affecting Game Center and the Games app on iOS 26 / iPadOS 26 for some users. The loading screen freeze is often tied to a Game Center authentication or server sync issue. Here are some steps to try:

1. Sign out and back into Game Center:

- Go to Settings → scroll down to Game Center

- Tap your Apple ID and sign out

- Wait 30 seconds, then sign back in

- This often clears stuck authentication tokens

2. Force-quit and relaunch the Games app:

- Swipe up from the bottom to open the App Switcher

- Swipe away the Games app card

- Reopen it from the Home Screen

3. Check Apple System Status:

- Visit apple.com/support/systemstatus to see if Game Center is experiencing an outage

- If there's a yellow or red indicator, it's a server-side issue and you just need to wait

4. Reset network settings:

- Go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset Network Settings

- This clears any network configuration that may be blocking Game Center connections

5. Check for iOS/iPadOS update:

- Go to Settings → General → Software Update

- If an update is available, install it — Apple often pushes bug fixes for Game Center issues in point releases

Regarding logging out from your Mac: I'd hold off on that for now and try steps 1-3 first, since signing out of Game Center on Mac could affect your game save data sync. Hope this gets resolved soon!

Thanks for the detailed reply v1v3km. My initial issue was with Game Center on iPhone AND iPad so I had no way to sign out except my Mac, which you advised against.

But good news, after 5 days of not working on either device, Game Center just started working on my iPhone. And then 2 days later, working again on iPad.

Must have been a sever issue, even though Apple’s System Status indicated no issue.
