Hi brian,
This is a known issue that can affect Music and Apple TV apps specifically even when your Apple ID is otherwise working fine on other devices. Here are the steps to fix it:
1. Sign out and back in within each app:
- Open Music app → Account menu (top menu bar) → Sign Out, then sign back in
- Open TV app → same process
- This forces a fresh authentication token
2. Check for conflicting Apple ID sessions:
- Go to System Settings → [your name] and make sure your MBP is listed under your devices
- If you see it listed twice, remove one entry and see if that helps
3. Reset the keychain entries for Music/TV:
- Open Keychain Access (Applications → Utilities)
- Search for "iTunes" and "Music" and delete any expired or duplicate entries
- Then try signing into Music/Apple TV again
4. Check Screen Time / Content Restrictions:
- Go to System Settings → Screen Time
- Make sure Content & Privacy Restrictions aren't blocking the Music or TV apps
- This sometimes gets set up accidentally
5. Reset network settings for those apps:
- Quit both apps completely (Cmd+Q)
- Go to ~/Library/Caches/ and delete the com.apple.Music and com.apple.tv cache folders
- Relaunch the apps
6. If nothing works:
- Sign out of your Apple ID completely: System Settings → [your name] → Sign Out
- Restart your Mac
- Sign back in
- This is the nuclear option but resolves most persistent login issues
Try step 1 first as it resolves this in most cases. Let us know if that helps!
