Hi there,

Sorry to hear your haptics aren't working on your iPhone 16 Pro Max running iOS 26. Let's go through this step by step.

1. Check if Haptics is enabled in Settings:

- Go to Settings → Sounds & Haptics.

- Make sure both "System Haptics" and "Keyboard Feedback → Haptic" (if applicable) are turned ON.

- Also check that the Ring/Silent switch on the side is not set to silent, as some haptic feedback is suppressed in silent mode.

2. Check Focus/Do Not Disturb mode:

- Go to Settings → Focus and make sure no Focus mode is active that might be suppressing haptics.

3. Restart your iPhone:

- Press and quickly release Volume Up, then Volume Down, then press and hold the Side button until the Apple logo appears.

- A fresh restart can fix temporary software glitches affecting the Taptic Engine.

4. Reset All Settings:

- If the above steps don't help, go to Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset → Reset All Settings.

- Note: This will reset your settings (Wi-Fi passwords, display brightness, etc.) but will NOT erase your data or apps.

5. Check if it's a hardware issue:

- Go to Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Vibration and make sure Vibration is enabled.

- Try the haptic feedback test by going to Settings → Sounds & Haptics and sliding the Ringtone and Alert Volume slider — you should feel a haptic pulse.

- If you feel absolutely no haptic response anywhere, even in Settings, the Taptic Engine may have a hardware issue and you should contact Apple Support or visit an Apple Store/Authorised Service Provider.

Let us know which step resolves it, or share more details (e.g., does it vibrate at all for calls/notifications?) so we can narrow it down further.

Hope this helps!

This is the only system-wide setting to disable haptics.

Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Vibration → Off

When this switch is off, all vibration on your iPhone will be disabled, including those for earthquake, tsunami, and other emergency alerts.

Check all the other places where you can set Sounds & Haptics.

  1. Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Vibration [Enable]
  2. General Sound & Haptics (See the Pic below)
  3. Alarm (See the pic below)
  4. Phone Ring Tone (See the pic below)
  5. For Email Haptics see the steps below on iOS 18
  6. Overall Sounds & Haptics
  7. Customise for Individual Accounts and Sub-categories
