Little Nightmares iPad freeze; iCloud fix, progress sync?

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask about an issue I experienced with Little Nightmares on iPad and iPhone.

When I was launching Little Nightmares on my iPad, the game and the Game Center sign-in process would freeze and become unresponsive at the same time. This happened during the launch process, before entering the game, so I initially thought it might be related to iPadOS or Game Center.

Interestingly, the iPhone version of Little Nightmares did not experience these freezes. The issue only appeared on my iPad.

After testing different things, I discovered that deleting the game’s iCloud save data and letting the game create a new cloud save completely fixed the issue. After that, Little Nightmares launched normally on iPad and the Game Center sign-in process also stopped freezing.

This made me wonder: could the previous iCloud save data or the synchronization between iCloud, Game Center, iPhone and iPad have been causing the problem?

Also, does Little Nightmares support full save synchronization between iPhone and iPad through iCloud? My Game Center achievements sync, but my actual game progress does not seem to transfer between devices.

Has anyone else experienced something similar, or knows how the save synchronization is supposed to work?

Great troubleshooting - you found the fix yourself. Here is more context:

Why deleting iCloud save data fixed the freeze: A corrupted or mismatched iCloud save file was causing a conflict during Game Center sign-in at launch. When Little Nightmares tried to sync progress between iPhone and iPad through iCloud, the conflicting save caused the app and Game Center to both freeze. Deleting the cloud save let the game start fresh with a clean sync.

Does Little Nightmares support full cross-device save sync? Game Center achievements sync across devices automatically, but actual level progress sync depends on whether the developer has fully implemented iCloud Game Save. The inconsistency you noticed - achievements sync but progress does not - is common for games with partial iCloud integration.

To prevent it happening again: Go to Settings > Your Name > iCloud > Show All, find Little Nightmares, and make sure iCloud is toggled on consistently on both devices. Also ensure both devices use the same Apple ID and Game Center account.

If the freeze returns, the same fix works: delete the iCloud save and let the game regenerate it.

Oh thank you so much , and this freezing was only for the iPad version it did not happen in my iPhone , but then for this consistency (by the way playdigious says that it is compatible for iCloud integration , but due to my unexpected iPad cloud files erasing in order to get iPad LN work without freezing , the progression iPhone (which was still working without freezing with the gamecenter with the same id of minedespite the iPad LN freezing ) I started to have progression altering and that altering got big the more I tried with panic to play st the same on iPad or on iPhone I did k ow what to do , normally the toggle is on on iPhone , but I want a clear path for my progression syncing , is there an order I should follow like waiting amount of time , getting iPad or iPhone offline first depending on which progression I want LN to acknowledge , all I want is I want to choose randomly one of my devices start a casual progression in of them and then one or two days after I want to see that progression in the other , in order to erase this inconsistency or altering in progression , do I neatly start a progression on either one of them and then in order to keep this progression safe , before starting continuing in yhe other (in order yhe other device to ser the safe progression ) will I need to erase everything locally and redownload the gsme and launch the game offline and then turn on the internet and let or give the chance to it to see the safe progression of the device I played two days earlier , is that the right path for erasing all progression altering or/and inconsistency ?

I am sorry if I have reflected my confusedness I hope expressed well this time thank you for your patience really

Because u til that freezing of iPad and before 26.5 iOS and iPadOS release I used to have no issues either progression sync , bur every conflict started after that erasing the files of iPad in order to have clear non freezing but the iPhone got confused and the chain went on

I am sorry for yhe long explanation I hope I expressed everything just as it is
