iPhone 15 Pro Max: Incorrect purchase date on Check Coverage

Title: Incorrect Purchase Date for iPhone 15 Pro Max

Hello,

I recently purchased a second-hand iPhone 15 Pro Max. My device is working normally, but I noticed that Apple’s Check Coverage page shows the purchase date as January 1, 2007, which is impossible because the iPhone 15 Pro Max was released much later.

My iPhone battery information shows:

  • Manufacture Date: April 2024

  • First Use: June 2025

I do not have the original purchase receipt because I bought the phone second-hand.

Is this an Apple database error? Is there any way to correct the purchase date in Apple’s records without the original proof of purchase?

Thank you.

No it is not an "error". The phone was refurbished by an unauthorized party as noted above. There is. no way to 'correct' the date in Apple's records and there is no point in doing so.

Not only is it not covered under the warranty, it's most likely untouchable by Apple as it's undoubtedly been tampered with.

If you're unhappy about that, return it and get your money back.

If you believe the information shown for your product is incorrect here --> Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support then you can submit your proof of purchase online

Your sales receipt is needed for Apple’s Limited Warranty, AppleCare Protection Plan, and AppleCare+ validation, so be sure to keep it in a safe place. Apple’s Limited Warranty is the same whether or not you register.

The Author of this thread purchased an iPhone 15 Pro Max, which is second hand. iPhone 15 Pro Max was discontinued in September 2024, which is now nearly 2 years ago. Even if the purchase date was correct, it is out of warranty, so I can't imagine there would be any value in attempting to get Apple to correct the date. It's pretty clear they purchased a used, but refurbished phone. It has no warranty with Apple at all.
