macOS auto-save errors on NAS: Delete hidden files

Auto save error popup for files located on a NAS.

The frequent popup indicating documents of various kinds, pages, numbers etc. can't be autosaved (NAS location) is much better after upgrading to MAC OS Tahoe V26.5.1.

When it does pop up, I'am able to save the file by removing the hidden files, those with file names starting with '.' a period.

Removing hidden files

In finder view the NAS directory you're saving to.

Press the keyboard shortcut: Cmd + Shift + Period (.). to show the hidden files if you don't se them.

Remove these files.

Save again and it should succeed.

Since these hidden files are on your NAS in a user directory you should be able to delete them without harming your system. Be careful deleting these in a system directory!

If you can't delete the files, go to the web interface for your NAS and delete them. If your an admin user on your NAS that should always be possible.

I rarely need to delete from the NAS web interface.
