iPhone overheating/charging issues since iOS 26.5.1

Is anyone else's phones overheating really fast since last update? My iPhone 17 Pro has been overheating really fast lately, which I know isn't that unusual, but my phone also struggles to hold a charge and/or won't charge whilst using it at all. The phone overheats so the stop charging warning comes up or the phone stays at the same percent/goes down in percent. I thought at first maybe just my phone battery but the same issue is happening to a lot of people I know, with lots of different phones like 17 Pro, 17, 16 and others. I'm not seeing anything anywhere about the issue but it seems more common than a select few? I've tried all usual troubleshooting fixes but none seem to work, and this has been ongoing for weeks since the 26.5.1 update.

Since posting, I have heard this issue is happening on iPhone 17 Pro’s, 17 Pro Max’s, 17’s and 16’s. Same issue of quick battery drainage, no charging whilst using the phone and phone getting really hot, more so than what it usually does whilst charging.

We have iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. Neither phone is having any unusual battery drain or heating issues. I've been up since about 7:00 AM this morning and my phone came off its charger and now it's after 10 PM and while I haven't used my phone heavily today, my phone is at 91% remaining charge, with no heat whatsoever. You can hear anything anywhere, but if this was a significant issue, this forum would be flooded with people complaining, but it's not. The tech press would be all over this, but they're not.

There are at least 1.5 Billion people using more than 2.5 Billion devices. You can read some people are having issues, but the percentage of users with issues would be tiny compared to the number of people using their phones without any issues. Keep in mind that people who are out there, happily using their phones without issues aren't generally on a forum saying "hey my phone is operating perfectly." But people who may have an issue often do post. It's like walking into a hospital and seeing sick people and coming to the conclusion everyone out there must be sick.

You need to determine what is causing issues for you. And the link Lawrence Finch provided, would be a good first place to check.
